In a shameful incident the Tripura seem to have abdicated all its responsibilities to please the governmental authority in the ongoing campaign for the election to Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and twelve other civic bodies across the state. In a glaring instance of Tripura police's brazen partisanship and kowtowing to the ruling party yesterday the woman candidate of Trinamool Congress in Ward no-10 of AMc ,Panna Deb was thrown out of police headquarter by a group of thuggish women police women . She had gone there to meet the SP (West) Manik Das to apprise him of her grievances.
 
Panna Deb, a former Councillor of AMC from Congress, had joined Trinamool and was selected as a candidate from Ward no-10 but ever since she is being stopped from campaign by gangs of hoodlums and hooligans of BJP. "Whenever I go out to campaign from door to door the anti-social elements of BJP on motor bikes come and threaten me to stay at home and not to campaign ; I had gone to East Agartala police station to file a complain with names and addresses of the hoodlums but the officers there advised me to refrain from campaign and stay at home for peace" said Panna.

She then reached the police headquarter to meet the SP (West) and register her complaint but was kept waiting at the gate for a long time and stopped from entering the headquarter premises. She sat on a strike alone for a few hours and then managed to sneak into the headquarter near the SP office . This was enough provocation for the women police personnel on duty to stop her and throw her out by physically carrying her . Panna said that she will again try to focus on the issue through media and by seeking judiciary.
